Smartest man alive contest

I wonder why you don't really hear about the smartest man alive contest? I think in the grand scheme of things that would be an infintessimally more important contest. No matter who wins the sexiest man or woman alive contest only one person really benefits from that award. The smartest man alive or smartest woman alive could possibly help improve the lives of everyone in the world. That being said, I have never heard of a contest winner for that one. I think it would be amazing to watch the smartest minds in the world on TV answering questions usually reserved for less than bright men and women who are only asked questions because they have a beautiful smile or body.

I would love to hear a gameshow announcer ask a "Smartest person alive contestant", "How would you solve world hunger?, you have thirty seconds to think of an answer".

Now that would be a contest that I would want to watch. President Obama recieved his award because he was a President. Johnny Depp recieved his award because he was on TV and in the Movies so much. Granted, both of my examples have relevance to their achievements, but how much? Would President Obama have recieved that award if he were not president, but rather a senator? Would Johnny Depp have been the sexiest man alive if he were not in 4 blockbusters back to back to back to back. IF this is the logic on how we vote, I guess Al gore would win smartest man alive for advertising to help with global warming. Or maybe a news anchor on Fox televeision will win because he or she invents the news for the public! (That was sarcasm) I do hope that someday people are recognized for their contributions to the world and not just their sex factor that gets ratings. That is all I am trying to say.
